WINIFRED MAUD VERLICK Today I lost my best friend. Peacefully, on December 24, 2000, Mom passed away with her family by her side. Mom was born in Harrogate, England on October 17, 1908. When she was five her family came to Canada. Winifred was predeceased by her husband Lawrence on July 22, 1972. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Verna deGraff; her grandchildren, Nancy-Jo and Brian Howie, Donna-Lea Peters and Glen Viflanzoff, Grant and Sandra Peters; great-grandchildren, Kevin (Ramona) and Allan Howie, Lisa and Andrew Viflanzoff, Aaron and Scott Peters. Also nephews, Lloyd and Winnifred Rushworth, Jack and Judy Scanlan of Winnipeg; nieces, Norma and Phil Guppy, Bev Hearn of Calgary; sister-in-law Betty Vorlick. The family wishes to send a very special thanks to Dr. Susan Hauch and staff of the Family Medical Centre, and to the doctors, nurses and staff of the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful care. A private family service will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Moms memory to the Fire Fighters Burn Fund, 202-666 St. James St., Winnipeg, Man., R3G 3S6 or to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation, Box 88, Winnipeg, Man., R3C 2G1.
