ROSABELLE AGNES JOHNSON (nee BROWN) Rosabelle Johnson, born October 31, 1911, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2000, at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall, Man., after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by her husband Cliff; son Brian; brother William; sisters, Jessie (Archie) Milljour and Edith and brother-in-law Harold Sims. Rosa is dearly remembered by son Ken (Joan) daughters, Sheron (Michael) and Marilyn (Ron) daughter-in-law Marion; sister Elsie Sims; sister-in-law Elsie Brown; Roberta, Elaine and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Rosa was born and raised on the family farm in Snowflake, Man. As a student she was active in school dramas, choir and curling. She and Cliff married and settled on a farm in Snowflake where son Brian was born. She taught herself to play the piano and organ, enjoyed many occasions of family music-making and became an active member of the ACW. In the early 1940s they moved to Carroll, Man., where son Ken was born. They travelled to England in 1946 with their two sons and returned to Carroll after one year. There she gave birth to daughters Sheron and Marilyn, and continued her work in the community and ACW. They moved back to Snowflake in 1951, where Rosa enjoyed her ACW work, womens curling club, gardening and music. After Cliffs passing in 1958, Rosa moved with her two daughters to Manitou where she worked in the Post Office, sang in the church choir, played the organ and maintained her ACW activities until her retirement at age 65. Rosa always had a smile, a love of life and beauty and a happy gentle spirit that remained with her for life. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. in the Church of the Ascension., 291 First St. W., Stonewall, Man. Rev. John Holmen will officiate. Interment will be held on Thursday, January 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Lariviere, Man. Special thanks to the caring nurses, staff and volunteers at Rosewood Lodge. Donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, Man. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
