IRENE B. HARRIS (nee Tanner) October 27, 1934 - December 27, 2000 Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 66 years, Irene became one with eternity. Left to celebrate her memory are her daughters, Katherine Cylke (Michael) of Las Vegas, NV and Donna Harris of Winnipeg; sisters, Anne, Rose, Nora, and Rita; brother James; and numerous relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Donald in 1993, as well as her siblings Bertha, Frank, and Edna. Irene was born in Camperville, MB, and eventually settled in St. James. She was employed by Jostens until retirement, after which she indulged in such pastimes as bingo, figure skating and traveling. At Irenes request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place and a private interment was held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Thank you to Dr. Harris and the staff at the Grace Hospital Oncology department, as well as Dr. Marr and all the caregivers of E3 at Riverview Health Centre, for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3R6. "I accept and absorb all the strength of the earth to keep my body hard and strong. I accept and absorb all the energy of the sun to keep my mind sharp and bright. I accept and absorb all the life strength of the ocean to cleanse my body and bring me life. I accept and absorb all the power of the wind to cleanse my spirit and bring me strength of purpose. I accept and absorb all the mystery of the heavens for I am a part of that vast unknown. >From these elements I have come, and to these elements I shall return, but the energy that is me shall not be lost."
