GIOVANNI MILITANO Peacefully, with his family at his side, Giovanni Militano passed away at the age of 87. Giovanni is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Annunziata; his children, Carmine (Villaluz) and Rosa (Jorge Esteves) his beloved grandchildren, Giovanni and Annunziata Militano and Gianluca and Marco Esteves; his sisters and brothers, Nino (Lina), Domenico (Carmela), Rosina Lupino (Domenico) in Italy, Carmine (Domenica), Angela Zirino, Rocco (Alfonza) in Italy, Giuseppe (Shirley) in Cambridge, Ont; his sister-in-law Anna Lafaci in Italy and brother-in-law Luigi Ciccone in Australia; his aunt Pasqualina Filleti and many Filleti cousins; his cousin Frank Militano (Rosina) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Carmine and Rosa Militano in Italy. Giovanni was born on August 1, 1913 in Acquaro di Cosoleto, Reggio Calabria, Italy. In 1954 he immigrated to Canada to start a new life for his family. He was employed by C.N. Rail for 24 years, retiring in 1978. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family. He loved life and lived it to its fullest. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Pallbearers are his nephews, Carmine Militano, Tony Militano, Carmine Militano, Joe Zirino, Carmine Zirino and Rocco Giampaolo. Prayers will be said on Monday, January 1, 2001 at 5:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 2, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. also in the church, with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding at the Eucharist.
