BART WILCOTT It is with great sadness that the family of Bart Wilcott announces his passing, on December 27, 2000, at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, Man. Bart is survived by his wife of 50 years, Odile and his children, Diane (Dennis), Terry (Cathy), Marc and Larry. He was a wonderful "Poppa" to Alexis, Sarah, Kyla, Randi, Giordan and Austin, who will miss him greatly. Born October 17, 1923, in St. Georges, Man., to Didace and Delia Wilcott, he was the eleventh of seventeen children. He is survived by his siblings, Augustina, Gertrude, Denis, Mathilda, Mae, Rose, Gerry and Sebastien. He was predeceased by Albeny, Urbain, Bernadette, Elsie, Emilien, Sylvio, Gilbert and Romuald. Bart was a proud veteran of the Second World War, having served in Scotland, England, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. He was with the liberators of The Netherlands in 1945. In 1955 he and Odile ventured to Europe to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation. That experience allowed Bart to put to rest many old "ghosts" and brought him peace in recent years, enabling him to share the stories of those years with his family. He retired from TransCanada Pipelines in 1984 and continued to work as a pipeliner on a contract basis until 1993. He was a Third Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 12. The legacy he has left his children and grandchildren is a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors, a strong work ethic and the importance of family. For this we are grateful. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Barts life will be held at Notre Dame Church in Kenora, Ont., on Tuesday, January 2, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
