MARGARET BALABANSKI (nee STACH) July 27, 1934 - December 29, 2000 After a lengthy illness, at the age of 66 years, Margaret passed away at the Carberry Plains District Health Centre. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Lorry; daughter Pamela (Bruce) Ferguson, and two sons, Philip and Paul (Penny) granddaughters, Candace (Jeff) and Carol and great-grandson Johnny. She is predeceased by her father and mother Anthony and Phyllis Stach and brother Steve Stach. She is survived by one brother Ernest (Jean) and three sisters, Mable (Mike Mochnacz, Lavinia (Steve) Novak, Delores (Steve) Zegalski, and also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Margaret was born in Rackham, Mb and grew up in the Ozerna District. She moved to Winnipeg where she met Lorry and they married in 1955. Margaret and Lorry went into the hotel business in Carberry in 1966, where they raised their family and retired. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a friend. She was known for her positive attitude and her cheerful outlook on life. Margarets favourite pastimes were playing bingo and travelling. Margaret was the pillar of the family and her strength was an inspiration to all. Thank you to Dr. Johnston and the staff at the Health Science Centre Oncology Department, as well as Dr. Beverage (longtime family doctor and friend), Dr. Kotze, Dr. Ward and all the staff at the Carberry Plains District Health Centre. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 2, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church on Lisgar Street in Carberry, Mb and will be conducted by Father Leo Fernandes. A second memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Basils Ukrainian Catholic Church at 202 Harcourt St., in Winnipeg, conducted by Rev. Father Isidore Dziadyk, O.S.B.M. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, Mb R3E 0V9, or to the Carberry Plains District Health Centre, Box 2000, Carberry, Mb R0K 0H0.
