JOAN PATRICIA GLANVILLE 1909 - 2000 Born in Ireland, Joan married Rev. John E. Glanville in 1928 when together they embarked for India with the Methodist Missionary Society. This was the start of a life serving God in India, Ireland and Jamaica. Predeceased by her husband in 1958, Joan continued to care for the underprivileged in her unique compassionate way in Jamaica and Fiji. For her work, Joan was awarded the Queens Medal of Honour at an investiture in Fiji in 1975. Upon retirement, Joan settled in Winnipeg, continuing her charitable work and writing her memoirs. She died peacefully on Christmas Eve surrounded by family. Joan is survived by her daughter Elizabeth; son John and daughter-in-law Lee, two grandchildren, David and Robert, in Australia; three grandchildren, Beth (husband Ian), Patricia and John, in Canada and five great-grandchildren. Those whose lives she has touched will miss her quick wit, sparkling eyes, compassion and deep faith. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses at the Victoria Hospital for their tender care. If friends so wish, contributions may be made to any charity for children.
