EUGENE PELLETIER RETIRED MCPL January 5, 1933 - December 29, 2000 On Friday, December 29, 2000, at the Riverview Health Centre, after a courageous battle with cancer, Eugene Pelletier passed away peacefully in his daughter Lindas arms. Gene is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy (McCoig) daughters, Linda Skoleski (Dave Vogt) and Yvonne Pelletier (John Clark) and son Tim Ross; grandchildren, Katherine and Colin Skoleski (and their father Larry), Dustin and Nicole Barrs, Daniel and Melissa Pelletier. Also by his mother Anna Pelletier; sisters, Dianna (Marcel) Lagasse, Alma (Oscar) Lagasse; brothers, Euclide (Violet), Raymond (Linda) as well as Leander Gibson and Marliss Stanway and their families; sisters-in-law, Mabel (Bob) Readman of Port Coquitlam, B.C., Betty Hilton, Cathy Baxter, Simone Pelletier, and Cyprienne Pelletier; brother-in-law John Hilton; numerous aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews of whom he was very fond. Gene was predeceased by his father Philippe; brothers, Donat (in infancy), George Toussaint and his infant son Roger; sister Evelyn and her husband Eugene Gibson; mother-in-law Mary Hilton and brother-in-law Bill Baxter. Gene proudly spent 26 years serving with the Canadian Armed Forces and 13 years working for MacDonalds Consolidated. After finally retiring, Gene spent many enjoyable evenings and weekends watching his grandchildren play ringette and hockey, and spending time woodworking and gardening. The family would like to thank Dr. Cummings and the staff of U3 at the Victoria Hospital, and the wonderful caring staff of 3E Palliative Care Unit of Riverview Health Centre who cared for Gene until his passing. Many thanks to friends and family who visited and sent good wishes and prayers, and special thanks to Vi who was there for Dot when she needed her. Prayers followed by the Funeral Mass will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2001, at the St. Adolphe Roman Catholic Church in St. Adolphe, Man. Private family burial to be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 100 Olivia St., R3E 0V9 or the Palliative Care Unit of Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Avenue, R3L 2P4 in Genes memory.
