VICTOR LANIUK On January 1, 2001, suddenly at the Health Sciences Centre, Victor Laniuk, father, Car Papa, son, brother and friend, passed away with his family by his side. Vic will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his daughters, Kim Bollenbach and husband Shane, and Daina Laniuk; mom Lena Laniuk; sisters, Carolin Hull and Elaine Kaethler and husband John; grandchildren, Tanner and Samantha Bollenbach; nephews, Darren Hull and Bob and Dan Kaethler. He will always be remembered by the Krupas of Vancouver, B.C., Laura Dinger and the Gillays of Detroit, MI, the Babychuks of Foam Lake, Sask.; dear friends Paul Sydor, cousin Will Laniuk, Ralph Buechler, Sharon Kilborn, Doug Bobbie and the Car guys, Angie Laniuk; as well as many other friends and family.

Vic was born February 3, 1943, in Winthorpe, Sask., and later moved the family to Winnipeg. Life and times were hard for them but their love for each other and hard work kept them forever close and strong. Vics daughters and family were the centre of his life; and Tanner and Sami were the apple of his eye. He was always very active and influential in their lives, playing baseball with his girls, spending time at the cabin, around the bonfire, and playing volleyball and lawn darts, attending the air show, going to Bomber games (no matter what) or relaxing under the carport with a cold one on a hot day. Dads passion was cars, and he loved going to Brainerd, MN, to see the Top Fuel Dragsters run at the drag races. Vic was talented in so many ways. He was very wise, unselfish and kind, with a wry sense of humour that always kept us laughing. He never could sit still, he was always doing something for someone and helping out. Many times he was seen working on a car, shoveling a neighbours driveway or fixing something for someone. Our fondest memory of Dad is in his garage, with the radio on, working on his baby, his 1930 Model A Ford. Dad, we are so proud of you, we will love and miss you always.

Memorial service will be held in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., on Friday, January 5, at 2:00 p.m. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Honorary pallbearers are John Kaethler, Shane Bollenbach, Bob Kaethler, Dan Kaethler, Darren Hull and Ralph Buechler. Words cannot describe the gratitude and appreciation towards everyone who offered help and kindness at this difficult time. The family gives sincerest thanks to Ann Szabo, Dr. Bshouty, Dr. Unruh and the Respiratory Team at the Health Sciences Centre, Jacque and the ICU staff, the G3 Wing staff and a special thanks to Dr. A. Robertson and the nurses at Health Sciences Centre Emergency for their tireless efforts and boundless caring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, Man., R3A 1P6.
