MARGARET SAWCHYN Peacefully on January 1, 2001 at the Holy Family Nursing Home, Margaret Sawchyn quietly passed away. We mourn our loss, but celebrate her long rich life of 90 years. Remaining to forever cherish her memory are her two daughters, Shirley (George) Meszaros and Beverly (Ron) Forbes; five grandchildren, Todd, Tyler, Tiffany, Tarin and Christopher. She also leaves three great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Kingsley and Steele. Margaret was predeceased by her husband John Ivan on October 15, 1984. Margaret was born in a farming community in Mossy River, Man. and had the good fortune to be part of a large, loving and caring family of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews who remained close over the years. The companionship of friends and family as well as the hardships helped to shape and contributed to Margarets gentle yet fun loving spirit. For many years she was an employee of Dominion Stores as well as an active participant in many volunteer organizations. Permanent friendships were forged with the formation of a bridge club which lasted for 35 years. All of her family and friends looked forward to the wonderful hospitality shown them on their visits to her cottage at Falcon Lake where laughter and lots of good food was shared by all. She was a wonderful cook, housekeeper and loved to dress fashionably at all times. She was also interested in crafts and needlework, and the hours spent on gifts for her children will be cherished forever. Margaret had been very fortunate over the years to have had in addition to her family, the support and companionship of two very special people, her niece Marcelle Bagan and special friend Harry Yasyna. While residing at the Holy Family Nursing Home, her sister Jessie Malcheski provided the loving care and devotion which added a richness to her final years. The family and friends would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Holy Family Nursing Home for all the loving care received. In lieu of flowers, the family have requested that donations be made to the Holy Family Nursing Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave. or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 8 in the chapel at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Reception with family and friends will follow. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
