JOHANNA LOVISA ROUSSEAU (nee VIDALIN) Peacefully on January 1, 2001, Johanna Lovisa Rousseau (nee Vidalin), passed away at the age of 86 years. Joey was born at Arskogur (Riverton), November 22, 1914 to Pall and Fredricka Vidalin, the third of nine children. She married Duncan Rousseau on May 6, 1943. Joey was predeceased by her husband Duncan; son-in-law Fred Luprypa; her parents, brothers, Fredrick (Helga), Larus, Paul, John; sister Pat; (in-laws), Sveinn Sveinsson, Herb Martin, Marge and Bill McDougell, Maizie Hannah and Bill Rousseau. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Ladine Luprypa and Louise Rousseau and her three grandchildren, Michael, Shela and Robert; brother David (Susan) Vidalin; sisters, Lauga Sveinsson and Rae Martin and sisters-in-law, Oskie Vidalin, Lil Rousseau, numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends. Joey and Duncan lived in Hnausa where they raised their two daughters and in 1967 Joey moved to Gimli where she worked at the Betel Home Foundation until her retirement at age 65. She had the gift of hospitality and as a result was blessed with many friends of all ages, who continued to visit her in her last years at Betel. Many of them adopted her as their Amma and always knew the coffee would be on, and goodies could be found. Special thanks go out to Dr. S.V. Patel and Dr. R.C. Patel and all the staff at Betel for treating our mother and Amma with kindness and respect. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Betel Home Foundation, Gimli, Manitoba. Memorial service to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2001 at the Gimli Lutheran Church, Pastor George Johnson officiating.
