Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEUGENIE (JEAN) MARGARET BATEMAN Peacefully, on Saturday, December 30, 2000, Eugenie Bateman passed away at the St. Boniface General Hospital. Eugenie is survived by her two daughters, Anne Heseltine of Prince George B.C. and Sheila Bell of Winnipeg; son-in-law Rob Bell and four granddaughters, Jennifer Cole and Heather Heseltine of B.C. and Shawna and Roxane Bell of Winnipeg. She is predeceased by her husband Tom Bateman, in 1985. Jean was a veteran in the R.C.A.F. (WD) with a Sgt.s rank from 1942-1946 and a former teacher at St. Ignatius and Our Lady of Victory Schools. Many of her former pupils will remember Mrs. Batemans strength and character. From 1970-1975 Tom and Jean, with Sheila, joined a Canadian team in Zambia, formerly Northern Rhodesia. Twenty-two Canadians helped Zambians manage their railway. On return to Canada, Tom retired from the CN and Jean enrolled as a volunteer with the Museum of Man and Nature. Recently she celebrated over twenty years working in school programs. An honorary life member, Jean enjoyed meeting out of town visitors in the Discovery Room. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Church, SW Corydon & Stafford at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 5. A private family internment was held at Garry Memorial Park. Floral tributes gratefully declined.
