ELIZABETH BRENDA ANDERSON February 3, 1916 - December 29, 2000 After a long illness, Betty died December 29, 2000 at her residence in Fort Garry. Betty was predeceased by her husband Frederick in 1993. She was also predeceased by her brother Paul Osborne; her nephew Richard McConnell and very recently by her sister and close friend Judy McConnell. Betty is survived by her son Frederick (Rick) and his wife Lynda and their children, Elizabeth and Karl of Thunder Bay; and by her son John, and his wife Briony and their daughter Kate of Portage la Prairie. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Keith McConnell; his son Bruce and Bruces wife Shirley Peterson, all of Winnipeg. Betty was born in Winnipeg in 1916, the daughter of Stanley and Olive Osborne. She attended school in Winnipeg and then studied at the Winnipeg School of Art. Betty worked as a commercial artist at Brigdens and also modelled. She maintained a lifelong love of art, style and fashion. In June, 1940, Betty married Fred Anderson. Her son Rick was born in 1944 and her son John was born in 1949. In 1947, the family moved to Wildwood Park and they lived in Fort Garry since then. Betty was deeply committed to her family and was a caring, loving wife and mother. She welcomed her daughters-in-law as her own and delighted in her grandchildren. Betty also had many great friends, through her golf and curling at the Wildwood Club, in the neighbourhood and at her bridge clubs and parties. Christmas was always a very special time for the gathering of the family. She and Fred loved to travel, whether it was to Detroit Lakes for the annual summer holiday, or to California, Europe or Hawaii. She loved gardening, sewing, needlepoint and knitting and loved to play games. Bettys relationships with her family and friends were the centre of her life, and we will always remember her cheerfulness and positive approach to life. Bettys family wishes to thank all of the kind people at the Golden Door Centre for their years of care and attention. A memorial service for Betty will be held at the Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road, Winnipeg at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5. In lieu of flowers, Bettys family asks that friends consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
