CHARLOTTE MARIE HILL (nee HEELAM) On Monday, January 1, 2001 at Health Sciences Centre, with her devoted, loving family at her side, Charlotte Marie Hill, beloved wife, devoted Mother, precious Nanny and Wonderful Mother-in-law slipped away peacefully to join her Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ at the age of 57 years. Besides her loving husband Fred of 41 years, she is survived by her daughter Virginia Redmond of Winnipeg, son Robert Hill also of Winnipeg and her three precious grandchildren, Alicia, Ashley, and Carl Redmond and her second son, (son-in-law), Ken Redmond. Also mourning her passing is her mother Theresa Menard and step-father, Harvey Menard and her sister Patricia Haig all from Essex, Ontario. Also mourning her loss is her sister-in-law, Carol Krauchi and husband Fred from Selkirk, MB as well as her brother-in-law, William T. Hill and his wife Ann from Truro, NS. She has several nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly. Charlotte was pre-deceased by her father, Harold Heelam in 1969. Charlotte was born in Windsor, Ontario on January 7, 1943. She met Dad and was married January 10, 1959. Being in the Canadian Armed Forces, they travelled extensively through the years, including five years in Germany. She enjoyed bingo, and dancing was her passion. Her and Dad could out dance anyone on the dance floor. She was a very giving person, even in the end. Her wishes were to donate her corneas but due to ALS, (Lou Gehrigs Disease) she was unable to do so. In the fall of 1997, Mum and Dad were sent to work for Bristol Aerospace Ltd. in Gabarone, Botswana, Africa where they spent two wonderful years there doing such things as going on safaris, pool parties, and experiencing the local culture. Rob and Virginia were fortunate enough to spend time with Mum and Dad in Africa during the winter of 1997-1998. Her greatest joy in life was the fact that she got to pick and choose her two children, always telling us that we were special. She was the most devoted Nanny to her grandchildren and also to her Chinese Pug Chin-Chin who is mourning her loss. The family would like to thank Dr. Vanameyde and the staff of GH4 Health Sciences Centre, who made her remaining days with us as comfortable as possible. Also thanks to the home care staff. Thank you to the ALS team of Deer Lodge. Special thanks to Kelly Riese for all your care and comfort to Rob and the family during our time of need. As to her wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Celebration Service will be held on Thursday, January 4, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Of Padua Church, 250 Burrin Ave., with Father Terence McGrath officiating. Reception to follow the service. If friends so desire, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the ALS Foundation of Manitoba. "Coming to perfection in so short a while, she achieved long life." WIS-4:7-15 Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
