He was predeceased by his mother Norma. Alan was a great Dad. He spent many hours at the hockey rink first with Kelsey and this past few months with Karleigh. Every winter he iced a skating rink for them in their yard. He encouraged his children to do well in school and he was very proud of their accomplishments in all the activities they pursued. His family was the most important part of his life. Alan was also a special son, brother, uncle and friend. He had a quick smile and people loved to spend time with him. He truly cared about other people. Alan was born on February 21, 1956 and was raised in St.Vital. He married Joan in 1979 and they were together until the fall of 1999. They had many good times together and raised two beautiful children. They lived on a farm outside Hazelridge. Alan worked for the federal government for his entire career. First for the Department of Veterans Affairs, later for Public Works & Government Services and most recently as a civilian member in the Finance Division of the R.C.M.P. He made many friends at work that will remember and miss him. Alan, we will love you and miss you forever. We wish we could have had you in our lives longer. You were very special to all of us. As you wished, we hope your soul is cruising the universe and you are happy and free and have met God. May you always walk in sunshine. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 on Friday, January 5 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with a reception to follow in the Reception Centre.
