BELLA HECHT Peacefully on December 17, 2000 at Riverview Health Centre, Bella Hecht passed away in her 92nd year. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph in 1979. Bella is survived by nephews, Harry (Vicky) Reiss, Sam (Bayla) Reiss, Ed (Barbara) Reiss and niece Ida (Saul) Alpern. She also leaves cousins in Israel, Vienna and New York, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. Bella was born in Poland and along with her husband, survived the Holocaust. They were brought to Edenbridge, SK by Josephs sister and brother-in-law, Rosa and Ira Reiss in 1948. After staying with them on the farm, they moved to Winnipeg. She was a member of the BNai Abraham Synagogue and observed all Jewish customs and traditions. Bella was an out-going, kind-hearted, friendly person who will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services were held at the Chesed Shel Emes on December 19 with interment at the BNai Abraham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dr. Teddy Lyons, Sam Reiss and her great-nephews, Jeff, Alan, Ken and Cary Reiss. Should friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
