Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERARD LAWRENCE CARRETTE On Monday, January 1, 2001, after a lengthy and courageous fight with cancer, with his loving wife, Leigh-Ann at his side, Gerard passed away peacefully. Gerard was born May 20, 1960, enjoying his earlier years on the family farm in Prairie Grove. He was always a kind, cheerful, proud, compassionate person with a perpetual sense of humour. He was quick to help others in his gentle way, and always had a joke to tell, delighting in their laughter. Gerard attended Dugald School and graduated from Springfield Collegiate. While working at Deacon Service (during high school years) he met the "apple of his eye", later to become his wife, Leigh-Ann (Zabor). He was also employed with Flyer Industries and Arnold Brothers Trucking and became a long-time employee of Simmons/Powell Rentals before his illness. Predeceased by his father Julien (1986) and brother Joseph (1979). He is survived by his loving wife Leigh-Ann; mother Elizabeth; three brothers, Donald (Sharon), Neil (Paulette), James (Jodi) four sisters, Bernadine Hanssen (Fritz), Mary Creek (Ron), Alice Carrette (Ken), Liz Osterlund (Troy) Leigh-Anns father and mother, Leo and Ange Zabor; sisters, Sherri and Abe Schroeder, Robin and Ralph Hille; brother Shaun Zabor; Granny Zaborowicz and Gramma Wagner. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services to be held on Saturday, January 6, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Rd., reception to follow in church. Cremation has taken place at Green Acres. Our families would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre, Riverview Palliative Care Unit and Dr. Foerster for the compassionate care given during Gerards illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 198 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3G 9Z9.
