SPARLING JOSEPH WILLIAM (JOE) FORESTER Joseph passed away Friday, December 22, 2000 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre following a lengthy battle with cancer. Joe was born June 9, 1932 at Grandview, MB, the fourth of seven children of John and Mae Forester. Due to the hard times, Joe left home to work at an early age. He had many different jobs over the years. In July of 1954, he married Myrtle Margaret Fehr in Winnipeg. Joe spent several years as a Corrections Officer before transferring to the Department of Highways to become a Highway Traffic Inspector. This change in career brought about a move to Boissevain, MB. In February 1977, Margaret passed away. Joe then met Shirley Bell of Killarney, MB. Joe and Shirley were married in January 1978 at Killarney, MB. In 1981, Joe and Shirley moved to Glenboro, MB, where they started their business J & L Lumber. In 1997 the store was closed. Due to Joes poor health they retired and have lived in Glenboro since. Joes interests included sports, rodeo, antiques, camping, music and his family. Joe was predeceased by his father John in 1963; his mother Mae in 1993 and his stepfather Cecil Dempster in 1983. Joe is survived by his loving wife Shirley; daughters, Shelley of Winnipeg, Sheryl of Brandon; son Reginald of Winnipeg; two sisters, Doris (Frank) Cochrane, Jennie (Neil) Lennox of Strathclair; four brothers, John (Ruth) of Hamilton, ON, Gordon (Muriel) of Oshawa, ON, Raymond (Millie) of Minnedosa, MB, Allan (Sandy) of Bolton, ON, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 28, 2000 at the Willmor Chapel, Glenboro with Pastor Harry Friesen officiating. Interment followed in the Hamiota Cemetery. Donations in Joes memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 727 B - 10th St., Brandon, MB, R7A 4G7. Jamieson Funeral Service of Baldur-Glenboro were in care of arrangements.
