WILLIAM THOMAS ATWOOD It is with deep sorrow that we announce the tragic death of our husband, father, son, and brother, William Thomas Atwood on January 1, 2001. He is survived by his loving wife Vivian and two sons, W.J. (Bill), attending college in Winnipeg and his fiancee, Laura Davis, and Keith (Nifter) attending York University. Also surviving are his mother Margaret and his brother Allan (Elaine) of Sioux Lookout. Dad was predeceased by his father Sid and his sister Susan. Also greeting him in heaven are his in-laws, Mildred and Art Parnell, with whom he had a wonderful friendship. Dad, the oldest of three children, was born November 3, 1942. Following graduation from high school, he continued his education at United College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1963. After pursuing a teaching and business career, Dad returned to Sioux Lookout where he and Mom made their home. Here his skills as a businessman flourished for the betterment of his community. Dad was a quiet man with an exceptional wit and a sense of humour enjoyed by both his family and friends. Throughout his life Dad had many passions, but his true love was caring for his family and his "pumpkin", Vivian. Funeral services will be held in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sioux Lookout, on Friday, January 5 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Susan Barclay officiating. Interment will be held in the Hillcrest Cemetery following the service. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to OPP officers, Sergeant Darren Willison and Constable Mike Barclay, who broke the tragic news to us. To our dear friends, your love, understanding, and support is greatly appreciated. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Cancer Society, or the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Sioux Lookout Funeral Home, 737-3300.
