Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHEN (STEVE) ANTONIUK It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Steve Antoniuk, aged 70 years, on Wednesday, January 3, 2001. Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife Theresa (Kozak) of 41 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his three sons and their families, Ted (Donna) and Marissa, Wally (Amber), Erik and Tess all of Winnipeg, David of Toronto; three sisters, Kay Komyshyn, Mary Melosky (Walter), Olga Wityshyn (John) brothers, Mike (Rosemary), Peter (Bernice), John (Sandra) Theresas family, Vladimir (Betty), Rose (Bill), Bernice (John), Eleanor (Lawrence), Sylvia (Kris) numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Anastasia; two sisters, Lena Mokry and Julia Jones and brother-in-law John Komyshyn. Steve, the eldest son of Harry and Anastasia (Podworny) was born in Sewell, Manitoba on January 16, 1930. As a young man, Steve and his family moved to Senkiw, Manitoba. Steves family went through a lot of hardships. He left home at the early age of 15 to seek employment in order to help his parents support his younger brothers and sisters. Steve was employed in various jobs in Manitoba and Ontario before working at Peoples Cooperative Dairies in Winnipeg for 34 years, retiring as a Power Engineer there in January 1991. Steve took an active part in St. Nicholas Parish, namely St. Nicholas Mens Club, Bingo Workers, Father Filipow Knights of Columbus, Perogy Workers, and Building-Maintenance Committee. Steve possessed the qualities of Jack of all Trades. He loved to help his children and other people, never wanting to say no. Steve took great interest and pride in his childrens education, sports participation and achievements. His three grandchildren, Erik, Tess and Marissa were his pride and joy and he loved to babysit and read to them. Steves hobbies were gardening, bowling, reading, and making his own wine and beer. He and Theresa also enjoyed travelling and had many memorable trips together, including their 1986 drive to Alaska, Hawaii and many others. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 8 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 9, also at the Church with a Basilian Father officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Anderson, Leonard Kozak, Peter Kwasny, Ted Shwaluke, Tony Suchy and Albert Turkula. All of Steves other friends should consider themselves as Honourary Pallbearers for Steve. St. Nicholas Mens Club and Father Filipow Council No. 8944 Knights of Columbus will act as Honour Guard for Steve. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steves memory to St. Nicholas Parish Preservation/Maintenance Fund or Rainbow Society, 302 - 171 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1M4.
