Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPEDRO DE LAS REYES (TATAY PETE) June 2, 1916 - January 4, 2001 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father and grandfather on January 4, 2001 at the age of 84. He was predeceased by his wife Mamerta; daughter Marciana; grandson Luisito (Ompong) parents and brothers and sisters. He leaves to mourn his children, Avelino (Violeta and Consuelo), Nelia (Benjamin), (Florentino), Perlita (Gregorio) of the Philippines, Corazon (Donard) of Winnipeg; his grandchildren, Alex, Jun, Arvin, Angelica, Lito, Evelyn, Ghie, Elvie, Jheck, Ethel, Marilou, Ferdie, Mike, Dennis, Weng, Gladys all of the Philippines, Shelley, Neriosa and Tracey of Winnipeg; and great-grandchildren, Ian, Renz, Chin-Chin, Mark, Maica, Vhin-Vhin, Roevin and Ella; numerous in-laws and family friends. Tatay Pete was born June 2, 1916 in the Philippines. He was the second eldest of ten children. He then came to Winnipeg in 1984. He was devoted to taking care of his grandchildren and being a loving father. In the summer, he enjoyed taking walks and gardening. Tatay was the best person to barbecue when the family went fishing. He always helped around the house, doing simple chores and made sure his grandchildren had something to eat and were comfortable when they got home from school. Tatay Pete was energetic, strong-willed stubborn, yet very gentle and generous to his family and loved ones. His absence will never be forgotten. Tatay Pete will be greatly missed. Lamay will be held on Sunday, January 7 at Knysh Funeral Chapel from 4:00 p.m. - 12:00 (midnight). Prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m. Special mass will be held on Monday, January 8 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 355 Andrews Ave. Tatay will then be taken to the Philippines for his burial on Wednesday, January 10. The family would like to give special thanks to Marcial, Gloria Umali and family, Fernandez family, Vera Family, Ligsay family and the many family and friends who visited Tatay Pete at the hospital, Fr. Diosdado Parrenas and the Unit 5, 5th floor nurses at Seven Oaks Hospital for their wonderful care and support. Thank you so much.
