MARIE LOUISE GUERTIN (nee Cote) May 27, 1926 - January 6, 2001 It is with great sorrow we announce the death of Marie-Louise from heart failure on Saturday morning. She was surrounded by love with her family at the time of her passing. Marie-Louise was the life-long best friend and beloved wife of Antoine. She was the loving mother of five children, Simone Orzechowski (Jim), Tony (Marjorie), Philippe (Lori), Charles (Deborah), Michelle Heckle (Wayne) and the very special MeMe of 15 grandchildren, Demion, Kristina, Lasha, Jea, Jean-Paul, Jamie, Jacqueline, Leanne, Sean, Cole, Chuck (Andrea), Chris, Jana, Nicole, Colin and three great-grandchildren, Kay-Lynn, Kimberly, Alexander. She is survived by her brothers, Ivan and Armand and sister Winnifred Gauer and half-sister and brother June Wazney and Arthur Cote. Marie-Louise was predeceased by her grandson Demion Orzechowski and brother Laurie Cote. Marie-Louise Jeanette was born in Winnipeg to Alexander George Cote and Winnifred Laurie Neil where she grew up and received her education. She was married to Antoine on June 1, 1946 at Sacre Coeur Church. Shortly after, they started their family. Marie-Louise devoted a great portion of her life raising her children. She spent many hours on the sidelines cheering at numerous sporting events and school activities. Her Sunday dinners at the farm were a family tradition. In her spare time, she designed and landscaped her four family homes. She was an avid gardener with a love and respect for the natural environment. There was a special place in her heart for her many family pets (horses, goats, cattle, chickens, geese, ducks, pigeons, cats, dogs, exotic birds), and her most recent ones, "Chima" (the cat) and "Amigo" (the parrot). She always had an enormous zest for life and looked forward to her next new adventure. Her later years included water-skiing, tubing, trampolining and a hot air balloon ride. She was employed at the University of Manitoba Dafoe Library where she made many life-long friendships. After her retirement, Marie-Louise studied fine arts and continued on with her love of painting. Our Mother (MeMe) will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her spirit and love will remain in our hearts and lives forever. At her request, there will be a private family blessing. Flowers are gratefully declined, but for those who wish, a donation may be made to a charity of their choice.
