EDITH BAYER Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, on Friday, January 5, 2001, Edith Bayer passed away at the Riverview Health Center, at the age of 77 years. Edith was predeceased by her husband Michael in 1975. She is survived by son Michael Bayer, wife Barbara, granddaughters Cheryl and Katherine; her daughter Judy Bilenki, husband Howard and grandson Michael; also her sister Elizabeth Klapman; her brother Steve Miller and their families. Edith was born on March 9,1923 in Betschereck, Yugoslavia. Prior to immigrating to Canada in 1949, she was employed as an immigration officer and court translator. She married her husband Michael in 1951. Edith was employed in the fashion industry for many years and prior to her retirement, she operated her own business, Sargent Foods, for 8 years. Moms greatest joy was her family especially her three grandchildren, "the loves of her life". Her passions were painting with water colours, sewing, and tending to her garden at Victoria Beach. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 10 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, with Rev. Msgr. Ward Jamieson presiding. Special thank you to Donna and Dr.Jan Canvin at the Rehab. Hospital, for their genuine caring and support, also the staff at Riverview Health Centre, for their kindness and compassion, and Dr. Bernstein at the Nephrology Clinic at the Health Sciences Centre.
