B.M. RUSSELL M.B.E. Peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2000, after a long illness, "Cy" Russell of Maple Ridge B.C. passed away at the age of 87 years. Cy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty and his children, Roberta, Susan and James (Judy), and six grandchildren. Born November 30, 1913 in Kingston, Ont., he was the second son of the late Major James and Jessie Russell. He is survived by his brother Gerald (Mildred and family), Winnipeg, and was predeceased by his brother John, James (lost at sea with the Royal Navy), and sister Irene. His parents returned to Glasgow in 1914 and when they returned to Canada in 1920 they settled in St. James, MB. Here Cy resided til 1939 when he went overseas with the first Canadian Division. While serving overseas in 1941 that he met and married Elizabeth (Betty), nee Freedman. He was a Permanent Army Officer having enlisted in 1938 and retired from the army in 1961. After the war Cy made his residence in Montreal and Pointe Claire where he was employed by Seal Construction Company for many years until his retirement. At this time Betty, Cy and Susan moved to Maple Ridge B.C. Cremation has taken place with other services pending.
