Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOLETTA (TOOTS) VEALE Loletta (Toots) Veale, nee Sawyer, passed away peacefully in her 97th year at her residence, Central Park Lodge, on Thursday, January 4, 2001. Loletta was born in Heward, Sask., on June 12, 1904, the fourth child born to Robert and Rhoda Sawyer. The family farmed in the Carnduff-Alida, Sask., area. After completing her high school, Loletta attended teachers college in Regina. She taught twelve years in various rural schools. In 1936, Loletta married Lorne Veale, and they farmed in the Antler, Sask., district. Loletta was active in her church and community projects, as well as Eastern Star work in Reston, Man. In 1963, Lorne and Loletta quit farming and moved to Brandon. In Brandon Loletta was active for a time in the Presbyterian Church, and continued her interest with Eastern Star. She always enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Loletta was enthusiastic about curling and baseball, and she attended many tournaments with Lorne. Due to failing health, Loletta became a resident of Central Park Lodge in 1992. The family extends a grateful thanks for the excellent care she received from the staff at Central Park Lodge. Loletta leaves to mourn her beloved and devoted husband Lorne of 64 years; a daughter Lorna (Barry) McVeigh and a son Dr. Warren (Maureen) Veale. She also leaves nine grandchildren, namely Cameron McVeigh, Cathryn McVeigh, Colleen (McVeigh) Keller, Drew Mitchell, Scott Mitchell, Laurel (Mitchell) Williams, Crystal (Mitchell) Presley, Dr. Pamela Veale, and Dr. Jeffrey Veale; a sister Dorothy (Alan) Shay; three sisters-in-law, Marie, Bridie, and Marjorie; ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Loletta is predeceased by her daughter Elaine (Clark) Mitchell in 1985 and six brothers, Emerson, Harvey, Frank, Floyd, Lorne, and Mervyn and three sisters, Vera, Lois and Merle. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service in Lolettas memory will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Wednesday, January 10 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Dale Woods officiating. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
