Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryA. COLSTON FOXFORD (FOXY) It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Alfred Colston Foxford on January 7, 2001, at the Victoria Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Florence; children Don of Vancouver, Marilyn of Canmore, AB, Margo (Giles Bugailiskis) and Bob (Sue Drouin) of Montreal; as well as brother Len (Elsie) of England. Colston was born in Bristol, England and came to Canada as a young man in 1928, living in Moose Jaw until the onset of the Second World War. He enlisted in the British Army and rose to the rank of Captain, posted in India. He was with the Royal Gloucester Hussars and later with the Cheshire Regiment. After the war, he returned to Canada, to Winnipeg and married Florence in 1946. They were married for 54 years. He worked as a Manufacturers Agent and was a member of the North West Commercial Traveler Association for 50 years. After retirement he stayed active for many years with the Mens Wear Shows. It was during this time that Colston and Florence enjoyed travel to warmer climates. All his life he was an avid sports fan, having played soccer and rugby in his younger days. Those who knew Dad will remember his beautiful singing voice and his many stories of India. He will be deeply missed. A private family interment will take place in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens prior to the funeral service. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A gathering of family and friends will take place in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre following the service. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Colston may be made to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank Graham and Vince for their kindness over the last two years and Peter, Dads Home Care worker. The family want to also extend their thanks to those who have shown their care by cards, phone calls, and flowers.
