Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE VAN DER TOLL 1911 - 2001 Peacefully and quietly, on Thursday, January 4, 2001 Rose Van der Toll passed away at St. Boniface Hospital after a long illness and a courageous fight. Her beloved son John and his wife Shirley were at her bedside. Rose was born February 11, 1911 to Michael and Julia Myklasiewych in Winnipeg. She lived her young life in the Point Douglas area where she attended school and as this area of the city was a melting pot of nationalities she learned to speak many languages. As a young teenager she went to work at Swift Canadian where she met and eventually married Antonius (Tony) Van der Tol in August of 1928. They lived all of their married life in Morse Place, East Kildonan until Tony passed away in 1966. In 1967, she moved to Transcona with John and Shirley and their family and stayed there until 1986. She then moved to Holy Cross Manor in St. Boniface and remained there until her illness. Rose is survived by her beloved son John and his wife Shirley and her precious grandchildren: Shawn Nykoluk (Brian) of Anola, Man., Michael Van der Tol (Cindy) of Ottawa, Ont., Darcy Markham (Joel) of Yuma, Arizona, and Shari Buttino of Lake Park, Minnesota, as well as her beautiful great-grandchildren: Crystal and Danielle Nykoluk, Richard and Joel Markham and Nicolas Buttino. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in British Columbia. As well, her friends Denise and Michael Olynik and Betty and Dan Stanik. She was predeceased by her husband Tony in 1966, her parents Michael and Julia Myklasiewych, a half sister Tillie, sister Mary and Jackie in infancy. Also her sisters Stella Michalis, Victoria Van der Tol and brother Peter Myklasiewych (Glass). The family would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the dedicated and wonderfully caring nursing staff on 6E at St. Boniface Hospital as well as Dr. Nadine Fontigny for the tender loving care she gave to Mom. We also appreciated her comfort and support for the past year. In lieu of flowers, the family request you make a donation to the charity of your choice. The celebration of Moms life and her memorial service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue, Aubrey Street entrance. Interment will be at a later date. NEIL BARDAL INC 949-2200
