JACK SCHNOOR On Monday, January 8, 2001, at age 66, at home in Toronto, peacefully after a long and sometimes difficult journey with melanoma cancer. Beloved husband of 37 years to Marcia (Billinkoff) loving father of Cindy Opler and her husband Dr. Michael Opler, and Randal Schnoor and his wife Marsha Moshinsky; proud grand-father of Bethany, Arielle, and Jonah Opler. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Toby and Ray Schnoor of Winnipeg and dear brother-in-law of Donald Billinkoff and Dr. Sharon Lewin of New York. Predeceased by his parents Fred and Anne Schnoor of Winnipeg in 1992. Jack was born in Winnipeg and received his Bachelor of Social Work (1963) and Master of Social Work (1964) at the University of Manitoba. Before moving to Toronto from Winnipeg in 1977, Jack was a Social Worker at the Childrens Aid Society. Upon moving to Toronto, Jack enrolled at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education to pursue a degree in Adult Education. He taught at Sheridan College in Brampton and Oakville from 1980 until his retirement in 1997 in the Social Services Program. He was honoured with the title of Professor Emeritus in 1999 at Sheridan College. His wisdom, gentleness, and humour inspired the many people he came in contact with - especially his family, students and colleagues. Like his father before him, Jack had an ongoing love of sports, particularly baseball and curling which he played into his sixties. He had a keen interest in travel which included motor trips across Canada and the U.S. with his young family. Later in 1991 on his sabbatical, he and his wife undertook a memorable ten week motor trip through Europe.
