Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySARAH KATHLEEN (KAY) WALLACE (REYNOLDS) (nee WATSON) It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Kay Wallace (Reynolds), nee Watson, of Brandon in the early hours of Friday, January 5, 2001, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. Mom was born February 7, 1920 on the Watson homestead, six miles north of Douglas, MB, daughter of Charlie and Kate (Ford) Watson. In 1925 she moved to Ingelow when her parents bought the general store and post office there. She grew up with brothers, Russell and Hilliard; and sister Beth. She attended Woodlea and Brookdale schools. She attended Brandon Normal School from 1939 to 1940. Moms first year of teaching was at West Favelle School, north of Minitonas, where she had 49 students in eight grades. Then she taught at Rossburn for two years and in 1943 was hired by the Brandon School Division and spent three years at Earl Haig Junior High. Mom and Dad (George M. Reynolds of Killarney) were married on Christmas Eve 1945, made their home and raised their four children at 440 Park Ave. in Brandon. She returned to teaching when her children were school age and retired in 1981 with a total of 33 years in the classroom. She was a well-loved and respected teacher. Dad died suddenly in 1982. She had fond memories of their camping and fishing trips throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan. In November, 1983, she married Nelson Wallace, of the Town of Oak Lake. Mom quickly became a part of the Oak Lake community by getting involved with the town newspaper and St. Albans Anglican Church. Both she and Nelson took part in many activities of the town such as old time, square and pattern dancing. Mom loved her years living in Oak Lake and spending time with Nelsons children and their families with regular visits from her own family. Mom also spent a great deal of time visiting and playing cards with Nelsons sister, Ada Fall of Oak Lake. After Nelson passed away in 1992, she continued to live in Oak Lake until December, 1996, when she moved to Lions Manor in Brandon. She was very content and enjoyed spending time with the many friends she made there. Along with Dad and Nelson, Mom was predeceased by her parents, Charlie and Kate Watson; her brothers, Hilliard Watson of Brandon, and Russell Watson of Barrie, ON; her daughter Sharon McCoy and son-in-law Roy McCoy of Teulon, MB. She is survived by her sister Beth Hadley of Vernon, BC, and her children, Larry (Wilma) Reynolds of London, ON, Rosemary Reynolds of Winnipeg, and Bill (Cindy) Reynolds of Oak Bank, MB. She will be greatly missed by her 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grand-children, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and former students. She loved the prairies and always thought of herself as a prairie girl. She had wonderful memories of spending time at Clear Lake as a girl, later on with her children, and more recently with her longtime friend, Janet Everall. Mom was famous for her baking, soup making (she could make soup out of a table leg), knitting and crib playing (regularly trouncing her opponents). Mom was a tremendously strong and loving person who brought out the best in everyone she knew. We will miss her deeply. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, January 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332 8th St. in Brandon. Archdeacon K. Salo presiding. Cremation has taken place and the interment will occur at the Brandon Cemetery following the service. If friends so wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B.G.H. Foundation, Palliative Care Service, 150 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB R7A 2B3, or to a charity of ones choice. Arrangements are in care of Brockie Donovan, phone 1-204-727-0694.
