ARTHUR DESORCY It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and brother, Arthur Desorcy, peacefully on January 10, 2001 at the age of 79 in Rainy River, ON. When he was only one year old, his parents, Eugene and Eva Desorcy moved to Rainy River. At an early age, he left home to work in bush camps, on steel gangs, in the mining industry as a diamond drill operator. It was at the gold mine in Couchenour, ON that he met Mary Peternaik. They were married October 16, 1943 and returned to Rainy River in 1944 where they spent many years farming. After retiring from the farm and a short stint working for the local post office, he entered full retirement and occupied his time with travelling and visiting the elderly. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served 12 years on the local school board. He leaves to mourn his wife Mary; four children, Eileen (Walter) Streit of Edmonton, Lillian (John) Dignan of Toronto, Brian (Colette) of Winnipeg, Paul (Beverly) of Calgary; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. As well, he is survived by three sisters, Leona White of Glendale, CA, Grace Davidson of Winnipeg, Theresa Johnson of Lorette; four brothers, Damasse of Calgary, Eugene (Vera) of Winnipeg, Joe of St. Thomas, ON and Romeo (Odile) of Lorette. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother Roland. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
