ALINE BERNIER (nee RACINE) Another angel is in heaven tonight as Aline, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, aunt and faithful friend succumbed to a courageous struggle with cancer. Aline was predeceased by her husband Gerard in 1985. Celebrating her life are her devoted children, Lorraine Philippot (Guy), Yvette Bourke (Murray) and Gerald Bernier (Pauline) her grandchildren, Marc (Andrea), Ian (Kim), Chantal (Colin), Charise, Adam (Meghan) and Janelle and her great-grandchildren, Ashley and Keenan; brother Joseph Racine (Madeleine) and sister Germaine Henry. Mom worked for many years in the St. Boniface General Hospital CSR department before her retirement. Aline was a warm person who loved life and people. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, needlepoint, crocheting, knitting, bus tours and berry picking. She was extremely proud of her vegetable garden and always shared her bountiful crop with family and friends. Growing flowers was also her passion. She took part in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Parish of Lorette and was a dedicated volunteer of many community services. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation and thanks to all friends and relatives for their kindness and support during Moms illness. Heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff at St. Boniface General Hospital CancerCare Centre and on the Palliative Care Unit as well as to the devoted Home Care nurses and workers in Lorette. In accordance with Moms wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held at the Notre Dame Church in Lorette on Monday, January 15 at 7:00 p.m. Father Maurice Jeanneau will celebrate the Funeral Mass. As an expression of sympathy, friends so wishing may make donations in Moms memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
