Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN BALLEN January 1, 1924 - January 11, 2001 John passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 11, 2001 at the age of 77. He was predeceased by his mother Maria, father Moses; sisters, Anna, Natalie, Nellie, Pearl, Victoria, and Melinda. John is survived by his loving wife Kitty; son David (Mary), daughter Janice, son-in-law Evan, granddaughters, Crystal (Simon), Jennifer and Catherine, grandson Laurence; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jade and Matthew; brothers, Peter, Billy, Steve, and Nestor, and numerous nieces and nephews. John dedicated his whole life to his family. His musical talents entertained many family members, friends and co-workers over the years. John was always quick with a joke or a humourous anecdote, usually related to his work. He enjoyed many card games with friends and family. John chose not to retire and continued to remain active through his work. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his family and friends (and those with broken windows.) Prayers will be said on Sunday, January 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 15 at 10:00 a.m. also at Glen Lawn Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens (Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Rd.). A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Lawn Reception Centre, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 4th Floor-141 Bannatyne Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 0R3.
