ALVIN KROEKER PLETT Passed away peacefully at his residence in Landmark on January 12, 2001 at the age of 73 years. Alvin is survived by his wife Katie; son Ken and wife Anne and their children, Tim, Maria and Becky; daughter Arlene and husband Lloyd Schulz and their daughter Cherise; and son Wally and wife Angie. Also left to mourn are his sisters, Minna, Elsie and Tina, as well as brothers, Ben, Abe, Leonard and their families. Alvin was predeceased by his parents Cornelius A. and Elizabeth Plett and one brother-in-law. Alvin was born in the Willow Ridge School District in the R.M. of Tache on May 31, 1927. He was baptized upon his confession of faith in the spring of 1947 and became a member of the Prairie Rose Kleine Gemeinde, where he was a vorsaenger (song leader) for many years, a service he truly enjoyed. Alvin and Katie (nee Banman) were married on September 11, 1949 and moved onto a farm nearby. He raised turkeys for many years and later became a bus driver. He loved the children, especially the "kindergarten kids" and was able to identify most of them by name, many years later. They sold the farm in 1982 at which time they moved to Landmark. Alvin was a sociable, outgoing individual with numerous hobbies and interests, including music, drawing, writing poetry and making snow sculptures. Alvin was diagnosed with prostate cancer in November, 1998 but was able to experience a number of important family events such as their golden wedding anniversary, Beckys high school graduation, Tim and Maria and Wally and Angies weddings, as well as Kens 50th birthday. He appreciated the time that was given to him in that regard. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17 at the Prairie Rose E.M. Church, Landmark, Man. Interment to follow at the local cemetery. Viewing will be held on Monday, January 15 from 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m with devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel and prior to the service. If friends and family desire, donations may be made to E.M.C. Missions, Box 1268, Steinbach, Man., R0A 2A0. Arrangements entrusted to: BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach, Man. 1-888-454-1030
