HAROLD GEORGE ANDERSON 1927 - 2001 On January 10, 2001, Harold George Anderson passed away on the farm where he was born, NW 7-11-6E in Dugald, Man., at age 73 years. Harold was born on March 18, 1927, the first birth for Robert and Phyllis Anderson. He was born, raised, and farmed all his adult life in the Springfield district. He attended Isbister School and was a member of the Dugald United Church. During his younger days, he liked to wander and his parents didnt know where he was, so they would look across the road to their parents, Harolds grandparents, and see a white flag flying. Now they knew where he was. During the early spring when the water was high in the ditch, how did this small boy know to paddle past this deep ditch and not drown? Harold grew up on an agricultural farm, where there were lots of cattle, chicken and horses. He had great patience in training a new colt to lead. This became a new partner to be used on the farm. On May 14, 1977, he married Ann Vigen from Morden. They lived on the Anderson homestead in the Dugald district until May 1997. Ann passed away November 11, 1997. Harold is survived by his sister Elizabeth Turner and brother-in-law Charles Turner of Killarney; his brothers, Henry Anderson and sister-in-law Winona of Lethbridge, Alta., and Charles Anderson and sister-in-law Irene of Winnipeg, Man.; his stepdaughter Ruby and her husband Howard Leatherdale of Miami, Man.; three stepgranddaughters, Sherry and her husband Scott Walters of Devils Lake, North Dakota, and their small son, Judy and husband Marty Elliott of Oakbank, Man., Cathy and husband Rheal Rouire of Miami, also several nieces and nephews. Funeral service to be held on Saturday, January 20, at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., with Rev. Jane Wetelainen officiating. Interment to follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Neil Van Rysell, Ben De Beer, Calvin Vaags, Lorne Vaags, Howard Smith and Bernie Turner. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
