Mary Sniezyk entered into the Kingdom of God on Friday, January, 12, 2001, at 4:10 a.m. at the Deer Lodge Centre, with the family around her, she had been a resident at Holy Family Nursing Home. I wish to thank the Sisters, doctors and staff of the St. Marys and St. Annes wards, for their many acts of kindness and concern - they are all truly "Angels of Mercy," also to the staff at Concordia Hospital Emergency and Deer Lodge Centre ward 3 West. Mother was born on January 14, 1922, in Poland and came to Canada at an early age and lived in Pine Ridge, Man. She married her late husband Joseph and they had four boys, Frank, Bernard, Edward and Stan (twin brothers) and lived in Winnipeg. Mother was always a very active person and found the time to help her friends and was actively involved in her community, until her health began to fail. She was involved with her smorgasbords dinners at the Old Immaculate Conception Church for many years and helped keep the sanctuary spotless after the Franciscan Sisters closed their convent. She was the Past President of the Immaculate Conception C.W.L., later on she became a member of the Holy Ghost C.W.L. She was also involved with the St. Johns Sportsman Club and was their cook for the underprivileged children from various areas around Winnipeg. For many years Mother was the first President of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Holy Ghost Fraternal Aid Society, this position she had for ten years. Mother was also the President of the Ladies Sewing Circle, which made Church Vestments for the Churches in need of them at Franciscan Sisters Convent. Being true to her Polish heritage, she helped make many shower and wedding celebrations and Communion breakfasts, where her and Dad attended the Holy Ghost Church for the new Canadians arriving in Winnipeg. She was also the Past President of the Mental Patients Association for several years with her group providing social activities for the patients of the Mental Health Centre in Selkirk. She was predeceased by her late husband Joseph; children, Frank, Bernard and Edward; sisters, Annie, Rose and brothers, Mike, Stan and Frank. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Stan; sisters, Frances (Cliff) Rasmussen, Caroline (Len) Upton, Gladys (Richard) Klpecki, Rose Hudzick and their families. Fr. Terance P. McGrath officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her longtime friends, Jerry Schoenfeld, Finn Hansen, Jimmy Brechka, Manuel Carreia and Rheal Roy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mothers memory to the Sisters of the Precious Blood, 2210-25th Ave., Regina, Sask., S4S 4E6.
