Date of Passing: Jan 12, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDNA MAY WATSON (nee DENNIS) Peacefully and with dignity, mum passed away at Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall, January 12, 2001, with her children at her bedside. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and a friend to all, mum succumbed to a courageous struggle with Alzheimer disease. Mum was predeceased by her father Lawrence Dennis when she was only three years old, by her mother Jessie Dennis, by her sister Dorthy Fleck and by her husband Harvey Watson. She will be lovingly be remembered and sadly missed by her children, Bernice (Ray Henry) and Ron; grandchildren, Melanie, Marla (Cory) and Laurel (Jason) great-grandchildren, Darian and Brady; as well as brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Jean Ritchie, Gordon and Ruth Watson, and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Mum was born January 8, 1917, in Ardill, Sask., but at an early age her family moved back to Balmoral, Man., where she grew up on her uncle Bob Chisholms farm. Following a long visit with relatives in Ontario, mum returned home where she met and later married Harvey. They purchased a farm south of Argyle and mum became a farmwife until 1956, when following a lengthy illness with tuberculosis, the farm was sold and mum and dad moved into Argyle with dad becoming the postmaster. Mum and dad "sorted the mail" for the next 25 years and many friendships developed over the counter. Mum enjoyed her life in Argyle, the busy family life, her many hobbies and later on, her grand-children. Mum was a member of the Argyle United Church and the United Church Women. She played the church organ and taught sunday school when she could. Mum also belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brant Argyle Legion. Following Harveys death in 1984, mum moved into Stonewood Lodge in Stonewall, where she enjoyed the closeness of friends, many outings and the "day program". Later, she was moved to the Rosewood wind where she remained until her passing. There are not enough words or paper to give our mum the accolades she deserves. She touched the hearts of everyone she met and knew. Kind, gentle and never having unkind words to say about anyone. She quietly lived her life to be a "formidable challenge" as an example for her children. Thank you mum for your unselfish years of dedication and sacrifice to your family. Friends may call from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 16 at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. In accordance with mums wishes, cremation will take place following the funeral service with will be held on Wednesday, January 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall. Rev.
