Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER JOSEPH DOUGLOSKI Peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2001 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Walter Dougloski, aged 88, passed away. Walter is survived by his beloved wife Anne; daughters, Betty (Gerry) Murray, Judy (Doug) Schnell; six grandchildren, Sean (Michelle) Murray, Rob (Laura) Murray, Marina (Rich) Fournier, Erin (Jeff) Currie, Rhonda (Gordon) Funk, and Geoffrey Schnell. Twelve great-grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Jordan, Michaela, Mark, Mercedes, and Amanda Murray; Melissa Morrow, Kara Idzik; Jonathan Currie; Alexander and Nikolas Funk. Walter was predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Olga Tarkin and Stella Katanna; and his brothers, Julian and Frank. Walter was born in Juniata, SK, on March 10, 1912, but grew up in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. From the age of 17 to 30, he worked for the CNR in Northwestern Ontario mainly as a trackman. Then for the next 30 years, he was in the hotel business in Gimli, Roblin and Winnipeg: The Criterion, The Wolseley (now Mount Royal), and The Manor. He finished his working years at the St. Josephs Mens Club on North Main Street. Walter enjoyed over 20 years of retirement. Walter married Anne Schnerch on November 21, 1936 and they celebrated 64 years of marriage last fall. A devoted family man, he did it his way. Walter went from the fastest man behind a lawn mower to the fastest man behind a walker. We want to thank all the people who gave Walter care over the past two years at St. Boniface Hospital, Misericordia Health Centre, St. Josephs Residence, Dr. Gorski and the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital (5th floor, Unit 5). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, and St. Josephs Residence. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill and Joe Kuchar, Frank Meder, Mike Kosiey, Arnold Schnerch and Henry Tarkin. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Josephs Residence, 1149 Leila Ave., at 1:30 p.m., with viewing prior to the mass on Friday, January 19, with Msgr. Maurice Comeault, P.H., V.F., officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St. REST IN PEACE CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
