LENORE CAMERON WHITE Peacefully, following a short illness, on Sunday, January 14, 2001, at the Scarborough Grace Hospital, Toronto. She was predeceased by her loving husband Richard Whitney in 1984 and by her sister Muriel Lepage. She is survived by her beloved son Paul Cameron White of Toronto and her dear daughter-in-law Marilyn (Hurst). She also leaves her three cherished granddaughters, Leslie White (Cass), Cynthia Heyd both of Toronto and Valerie Soper of Vancouver, B.C. Missing her are great-grandchildren, Katherine and Madeleine Cass, Kelsey and Connor Heyd and Mathew and Emma Soper and her sister Ruth Cameron Perdue also of Toronto. Lenore was born in Winnipeg the daughter of the late James Alexander Thompson and Mary Evelyn Thompson. She attended Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate and lived in Winnipeg until 1982 when she joined the family in Toronto. She contributed to the cultural life in Winnipeg in a significant way. She was a lifetime member and past president of the McKinnon Guild of the Children Hospital and worked with the Nearly New Shop for many years. She also served on the Board of the Womens Committee of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the Winnipeg Art Gallery. She put her extensive volunteer service to use when she was appointed Director of Volunteers at St. Boniface Hospital. Lenore was a very talented artist working in several mediums and also enjoyed playing bridge, both lifelong activities. She was very proud of her family and above all being part of all family events at home and at the cottage. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (South of Eglinton Avenue East) from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17. At a later date, a private family interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Wexford Residence Inc., 1860 Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto, M1R 5B1 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 998 Coxwell Avenue, Toronto, M4C 3G5.
