Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAUGUSTINE RICHARD 1919 - 2001 On January 14, 2001, God embraced his faithful son, Augustine Richard, age 81 years. Besides his wife Florence, he will remain forever in the hearts and prayers of his children, Elsie (Frank), Hubert (Lynn), Evelyn (Dennis), Olivine (Bruno), Linda (David), Michael (Sandra), and Paul (Lorna) 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Ruby), Maurice, Bruce, Eugene, Denis (Rita) sisters, Nora, Marie, Gertie (Robert), Lucille (Roy), Daisy (Franc) and Loretta; as well as numerous relatives. He has eternally united with his parents, Philomene and Napoleon; stepmother Agnes; several brothers and sisters; sons, Arnold and Leon; daughter Adele, and great-grandson Jordon. Augustine was born on January 22, 1919 in Camperville, MB where he married Florence on January 24, 1939. Enjoying this closely knit community, they lived there until 1964, later living in various towns in Western Canada including Pine River, Roblin, Winnipeg, Williams Lake, BC, and finally Deloraine, MB for the past five years. Augustine was self-educated and built and operated his own sawmill, millwrighted for other sawmill companies and was involved in building and contracting in British Columbia. Upon retiring, he pursued his love of woodworking. As Augustine set such high standards, he created exceptional pieces of furniture that will be heirlooms for many generations. His grandchildren will forever cherish their hand crafted cedar chests. Augustine was remarkable and grew to be a deeply spiritual man. Through his strong devotion to the Creator and by the example he set, he empowered his family to be the best they can be. He was a firm believer in education for all of his children and grandchildren. Although he treasured all of his family, he had a particularly special bond with his grandson Carl. Augustine was wise, humble, generous, honest, hardworking and his soft gentle nature will be remembered. Augustines wonderful sense of humour and his faith gave him and his family strength during his last days. Augustine Richard was an elder in the true sense of the word. Heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at the Brandon and Deloraine Hospitals. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, January 16 at 7:30 p.m. and funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 17 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Antoninus Catholic Church, Deloraine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Association (Manitoba Division) or a charity of ones choice.
