Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryETIENNE HENRI DESROCHERS The death of Etienne Desrochers, of Central Park Lodge, Brandon, occurred at his residence on Monday, January 15, 2001. Etienne was born in Mariapolis, MB on February 10, 1919. He grew up there on the family farm, enjoying hard work and farm life. He married Dora Levreault in 1944, and together they raised a family of six children. The family farmed at Greenway until 1969, then moved to Wawanesa where Etienne managed a service station until 1975. He then moved to Brandon where he worked at various places until the age of 65. Etienne enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends, family gatherings, and especially his Ford truck. He also belonged to St. Augustines Church. Etienne and Dora separated in the fall of 1991. In 1992 he moved to a small house in Brandon, where he lived until his health failed him on Christmas Day, 1999. He remained at the Assiniboine Centre until December 28, 2000, and then moved to Central Park Lodge where he resided until his death. Etienne is survived by his children, Juliette (Eddy) Vertz of Glenboro, Norman (Edith) of Baldur, Angelle (Bill) Glover of Elkhorn, Vi (Murray) Boulet of Brandon, Firmin (Sharon) of Hamiota, and Vicki (Kerry) Komher of Winnipeg; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Eliza Guilbert; sister-in-law Eileen Desrochers; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by grandson Deryck in December 1992, four brothers, one sister, and great-granddaughter Amanda. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, January 18 at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Leo Fernandes officiating. Pallbearers were Brad Vertz, Clayton Desrochers, Jeffery Desrochers, Mike Glover, Dan McGregor, and Ken McGregor. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. Donations, in memory of Etienne, may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415 - 1st Street, Brandon, MB R7A 2W8. Arrangements were in care of Brockie Donovan.
