Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCALVIN CHUDD It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the accidental passing of Calvin Chudd on January 13, 2001. Cal was born in Gimli, MB on June 11, 1957, the second child of Johnny and Gladys Chudd. From day one, Calvin was a farmer and grew up and worked on the family dairy and grain farm. All his school years were spent in Gimli, where he was a natural athlete, excelling in high school basketball. Cal graduated from Red River Community College as a diesel mechanic, and farmed and worked for other businesses until he developed Midlake Farm Equipment in Arborg, which he owned and operated for nine years. Cal always loved machinery, from combines and tractors to his Harley and his snowmobiles. He was an outstanding and energetic member of both of his communities, Gimli and Arborg. Cal was a very successful businessperson as shown by the many sales awards and goals he and his staff achieved. In October, 2000, he went to Chicago to receive the New Holland Presidents Prestige Award, of which he was very proud. Many of the awards offered opportunities to travel and meet people. He and Colleen had travelled to many places, including Continental Europe, Scandinavia, Hawaii, Belgium, California, Puerto Rico, Cancun, San Francisco and the Cayman Islands. He always knew how to truly enjoy himself and have a good time. Cal was a very sociable person who made friends with everyone and loved visiting and having visitors. He loved people, especially children, and children loved him. He was the "funnest" dad and favourite uncle. Cal was also the most generous and caring person imaginable. His generosity knew no bounds, and you could always count on Calvin. He was a true and loyal friend. Cal married Colleen Dey on August 8, 1981. They lived in Gimli for the first few years of their marriage, and then moved to Arborg. Cals pride and joy were his three children, Chantal, Kristen and his "buddy" Tanner. They knew what a "soft touch" he was, even though he tried to come across as so "firm" with them at times. He was the very best of dads, whose heart truly belonged to his children. No children could have been more loved. Cals memory will always be cherished by his children; wife Colleen; father John Chudd; grandmothers, Anne Chudd and Pearl Wold; sister Cheryl Bailey (Ross; Neil and Craig) brother Blair; brothers-in-law, Doug Dey (Janice; Tyler and Talia), Gerald Dey (Colleen; Lauren, Connor and Amber) sister-in-law Susan Penziwol (Barry; Kimberly and Bradley) parents-in-law, Elwood and Elsie Dey; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and relatives, as well as his many, many friends. He was predeceased by his mom, Glady, who he was so like, his aunt Blanche Condon; and grandfathers, Magnus Wold and John Chudd. Cals loss leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. We are all so lucky to have had him in our lives and to have been loved by him. A Celebration of Cals life will be held on Thursday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Arborg Community Hall, with Pastor Tom Gerbrandt officiating. Honorary pallbearers are his good friends, you know who you are, and thank you for being his friends. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Childrens Hospital Research Foundation, 840 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1, or to the charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
