Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN KEHLER John Kehler passed away peacefully on January 12, 2001 at St. Pierre Personal Care Home. He was born on August 16, 1914 at Ile des Chenes, Man. John is survived by two sisters, Eva Oldfield of Winnipeg, and Mary (Ed) Kiesman of Moosehorn, MB; sister-in-law Olga of Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews. We all loved him and will miss him. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Helenna Kehler; brothers, George and Jake; sisters, Helen and brother-in-law Ben Wieler and Agnes and brother-in-law John Peters and nephew Ben Wieler. In his younger years John worked for Trump Oil Co. in Morris, MB. He then owned and operated a small grocery store in Ile des Chenes. After that he drove the mail truck for eights years, then went farming at Grand Point, MB. John was a very caring and generous man always willing to help others. He had his first stroke in 1986 from which he never quite recovered. John retired and moved to the Ile des Chenes Seniors Home. The family would like to thank all the home care workers, especially Pat Overly for all her kindness. A very special thank you to the DAuteuil families as they were always there for John when he needed them. John moved to the St. Pierre Care Home in 1995. We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the St. Pierre Hospital and Personal Care Home for all their tender love and care, all so very much appreciated. To Rev. Ben Hiebert for all the prayers and visits which meant a lot to John and to us, and to all the relatives and friends that visited him, your kindness will always be remembered. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church in Niverville. Viewing will take place one hour before the service. Burial will follow at the Niverville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Melvin Wieler, Kevin Wieler, Denver Wieler, Wesley Wieler, Leonard Kiesman and Wayne Oldfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Johns memory to the Niverville Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 99-1st St. S., Niverville, MB. Arrangements are entrusted to Loewen Funeral Chapel of Steinbach.
