VICTORIA HERDA On January 15, 2001, Mom passed away at Betel Home in Selkirk at the age of 86 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Larry (Connie) Herda, Violet Romaniuk, Betty (Harry) Dalebozik, Rose (Len) Cherpako and Bob (Loura Herda) also 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mary Wachal, Joyce Boss, Emily Rondeau; brothers, John (Anne) Wasney, Walter (Helen) Wasney and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Herda; son-in-law Bill Romaniuk; parents Bartholomew and Eva Wasney; brothers, Mike, Albert and Stanley Wasney and sister Stella Swirsky. Mom was born on February 17, 1914, in Melrose, Man. She married William Herda in 1931 and they lived, farmed, and raised their family in Kirkness, Man. Mom loved her gardening and flowers but most of all she loved family gatherings, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her gift of a lovely hand stitched quilt to each of her grandchildren. After Dad died in 1993, Mom went to live with her daughter Violet in Hazelridge and then with failing health moved to Betel Home in 1995. Prayers will be said on Thursday, January 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Cooks Creek, Man. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 19, at 10:30 a.m. also in the church with Fr. Sabastian Gacki officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. Her pallbearers will be her grandsons, David Romaniuk, Jeff Romaniuk, Ronnie Herda, Darrell Cherpako, Barry Cherpako and Corey Dalebozik. Sincere thanks to the staff at the Betel Home for their kindness and care shown to Mom. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Victorias name to the Betel Home Foundation, 212 Manchester Ave., Selkirk, Man., R1A 0B6, or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
