SCOTT MICHAEL OVERWATER It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Scott on Tuesday, January 16, 2001. Scott will be sadly missed by his dad Ron, his mom Donna and step-dad Dane Barringer, brother Kristopher, and sister Alison. Also by his grandparents, John and Alice Overwater; special grandma Alice Cheetham; his second family, auntie Joyce, uncle Doug and Ashley Ritter; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, the Barringer and Riedle families and his best buddies. Thunder and Shadoe. Scott was born on December 21, 1981, and lived in Oak Bluff. He attended J.A. Cuddy Elementary School and was presently attending Dakota Collegiate where he had many friends. Scott participated in Special Olympics, winning numerous medals and receiving the award for Sportsmanship at the 1997 Provincial Summer Games. Scott had a great passion for life and spent many hours doing what he loved best, playing Playstation, spending time with his pets and his greatest love, watching WWF wrestling. He was a true "Jerichoholic." One of Scotts joys in life was having family and friends that he could talk to and know that they would always be there for him. Scotts family would like to sincerely thank Dr. M. Schroeder, Debbie, Shannon, Tracy, Cathy, and the Pediatric Oncology team, also CancerCare Manitoba, CK5, D6, PICU, MICU for their warmth, compassion and expert care they provided to Scott, as well as the many people with whom Scott encountered during his illness, especially the staff at UCLA Medical Centre and the Critical Care International Flight team for making it possible for Scott to return home from California. A celebration of Scotts life will be held on Friday, January 19 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Brebeuf Roman Catholic Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Pl., with Fr. Michael Koryluk, the celebrant. Private family interment will follow at Garry Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Gerry Overwater, Doug Overwater, Doug Ritter, Ernie Riedle, Devin Shtykalo, and Clayton Wood. In lieu of flowers, donations in Scotts memory can be made to Child Life Cancer Clinic, in care of Dawn Kidder, Child Life Department, 840 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg MB, R3A 1S1. "Scott, you touched our hearts with your love, your laughter and your courage. You gave us the strength to move forward. We love you and we will never stop missing you."
