CECIL WALTER ANDERSON
Date of Passing: Jan 15, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCECIL WALTER ANDERSON Peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2001, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital, Gimli, Man. Cecil Walter Anderson, beloved Brother, Uncle and Teacher. Cecil grew up on Beverley Street in the west end of Winnipeg, attending John M. King and Daniel MacIntyre schools. He enrolled in Concordia College in the United States where he discovered his love of teaching, and after returning to Winnipeg, he entered normal school and began the career he loved. Over the years he taught in Dauphin, Melita, Selkirk and in Gimli. One of his proudest achievements was that he had taught his sister, his brothers two sons and had after retiring remained a substitute teacher long enough to teach his niece. Cecils interests were drama and music. He was a member of the Lake Centre Players in Gimli and spoke often of the many plays in which he had a part. He will be greatly missed by his mother Margaret, his brother and golfing partner Claude, sister Pat who has lost not only a brother but also her best friend, loving niece Roberta, and his brothers children Chris, Cec, Claudia and their families. At Cecils request immediate cremation has taken place and a private family ash interment will be held at a later date. If at some point in time you are quietly sitting and you think of Cecil and smile, or while gathered with friends, you speak of him with fondness, that will be the best memorial to a man that enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Johnson Memorial Hospital. The family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses at the Johnson Memorial Hospital who were so kind and thoughtful during this very difficult last week, you all went so far out of your way to make things easier, it will never be forgotten. Cecil wanted to express his gratitude to all the friends and former students that visited him during the seven months he was in hospital, it made his days so much brighter. Well miss you so much dear brother and uncle. Well see you in the morning. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli in care of arrangements.
