BARRY TESSLER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Barry Tessler, age 85 years, on Tuesday, January 2, 2001 at the Victoria General Hospital, Winnipeg. Barry is survived by his wife, Eileen (nee Goldberg) of 50 years; their four children, Reeva (Earl) Parker, Karen Tessler, Michael (Rachel) Tessler and Judy Faintuck. Barry is also survived by his sister Gloria (Arthur) Sodomsky. Barry was devoted unconditionally to his wife and family. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Barry was the owner/operator of Tesslers Iron and Metal Co. Ltd. (which he acquired from his father) from the mid 1940s to his retirement in 1982. Barry was an avid sports fan and participant who believed strongly in the benefits of exercise and fitness. He valued education and was proud of the accomplishments of his children. Barry was a man of integrity, spirit and warmth. He took an enthusiastic interest in the world around him and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was respected in business and the community, meeting challenges with determinations, strength and compassion. Barry was a creative and entertaining raconteur with a great sense of humour and a deep appreciation of Yiddishkeit. He will be sorrowfully missed by family and friends. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba or any charity of the donors choice would be gratefully appreciated.
