NORMAN THOMAS BIRKETT On Tuesday, January 16, 2001, at the Portage District General Hospital, Norman Thomas Birkett, of MacGregor, Man., beloved husband of Dorothy Birkett, passed away at the age of 81 years. Predeceased by his brother William and his sister Lillian Smith, he leaves to mourn his passing his wife Dorothy; his children, daughter Pattie and Don Opperman of Boissevain, grandson Dean; son Bryan and Sandra of Battleford, Sask., grandchildren, Derek, Julian; great-grandchildren, Pheonix, Tiger; daughter Launa and Henry Thiessen of MacGregor, grandchildren, Michael and Alaina; son Kevin and Lynne of Winnipeg, grandchildren, Riley and Sean; son Darren of Calgary and grandson Anthony; also surviving are his brother Raymond of Portage, his sister Rowena Easey of Grimsby, Ont., sister-in-law Emily Birkett of London, England and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Saturday, January 20, at 1:30 p.m. Interment of the cremated remains will follow in the family plot at the Katrime Cemetery. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Portage Office, 103 Wilkinson Cres., Portage la Prairie, Man., R1N 1A7, or a charity of choice.
