DONALD ARTHUR RAYNER It is with great sorrow that the family of Donald Arthur Rayner announces his passing on Wednesday, January 17, 2001, at the age of 82. Donald was predeceased by his father (Edward) in 1934; mother (Maud) in 1951; infant brother (George) in 1911; sister (Beth) in 1996 and brother (Victor) in 1999. He will be sadly missed, always loved and remembered by his wife of over 60 years, Marjorie; his children, Ted (Margaret), Bill (Karen), Audrey (Bob), Sharon (Don), Donna (Dave), Cathy (John) and Allan (Carrie) grandchildren, Rob (Mel), Kristine (Marc), Crystal (Glenn), Chris, Shawn (Connie), Curtis, Shannon, Kyle, Corey, Brittany, Jeffrey, Justin, Courtney and Kayla; great-grandchildren, Karissa, Chelsea, Michael and Tristan. He devoted his entire life to his wife and family. He worked at The Cordite plant in 1942, then Eastern Terminal Elevator for 23 years followed by 17 years as a machinist with CN - Symington Yards. Throughout his life he was blessed with an uncanny ability in music, mechanics, carpentry and woodworking. After retirement his hobbies included crafting lawn ornaments, going for rides, visiting garage sales, maintaining his yard and taking care of his pets. Special thanks to Valerie, Kristen and the rest of the nursing staff of N-3 at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion. Viewing will be held on Friday, January 19 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and services will be held on Saturday, January 20 at 9:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., Rev. Jeff Cook officiating. A descendent of the Selkirk Settlers, he will be laid to rest at the Old Kildonan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Alzheimers Society or charity of ones choice.
