WILDA E. McDONALD It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and friend on January 17, 2001, at the age of 83. Wilda was predeceased by her husband David Stewart in 1964 and by her oldest son Bob in 1992. Wilda, one of nine children, is survived by her sister Eleanor (Jack) Coombs; and sisters-in-law, Irene, Gay, Bessie and Mavis. Moms strength, independence and pride are instilled in her surviving children, Donna (Don) McLean, grandchildren, Sherri (Marc), Casey; David (Barb) McDonald, grandchildren, Cari (Scott), Gavin; Ken (Chris) McDonald, grandchildren, Justin, Ashley; and grandchildren, Denise and Doug McDonald. Mom was born in Lenore, MB on March 11, 1917. She attended school at Lothair and Oak River, while helping to raise her younger brothers and sisters. She met and married Dad in Flin Flon, where Bob, Donna and David were born. In 1950, the family moved to Winnipeg, where Ken was born. Mom supported her family by working at Picardys and then Avenue Pharmacy, where she worked until her retirement. Moms favourite moments were the family gatherings and the Christmases when she was able to sit on Santas knee. We will miss her and her butter tarts at our dinners. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., with Dave Dixon, Winnipeg Police Service Chaplain, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Moms memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
