VIVIAN (VIVI) LUELLA HOFFORD (nee WILSON) It is with great sorrow that we wish to announce the passing of a special friend, helpmate, loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother Vivian (Vivi) Hofford on January 11, 2001 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Vivian was born September 21, 1916 in the Grand Narrows district of Manitoba, the third daughter and fifth child of Gertrude and Harry Wilson. She married Max Hofford of Grand Narrows on April 4, 1942 and together they moved to the farm in the Lavender District in 1946. Vivian was predeceased by her parents, Gertrude and Harry Wilson, Gertrude in 1979 and Harry in 1954. She was also predeceased by brother Howard, 1990, and Orville, 1984; a sister Mildred, 1999; and a baby sister Rita 1924. Vivian is survived by her devoted husband of almost 59 years Maxwell; two daughters, Maxine Lutz (Brian) of Winnipeg, Patricia Roth (Ken) of Carman; three sons, Trevor (Betty), Wesley (Heather), Rodney (Wendy) all of Bowsman; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by three sisters, Verna Laliberte of Roblin, Muriel Stephen of Bowsman and Thelma Wright of Oregon, USA. Vivian devoted her entire life doing good things, not only for her family, but to anyone who passed her way. She was a great knitter, an excellent cook and an expert crossword fanatic. She was also an avid gardener and loved fishing. She liked to travel and in the last twenty years she and Max saw Canada ocean to ocean, the far north to Inuvik and south to Arizona and Mexico. Vivian made many contributions to community life in the Lavender district, helping the teachers in the local school, often substituting. As a founding member of Local 58 M.F.U., Bowsman local, she was awarded an honorary life membership in the N.F.U. Cremation has taken place and as Vivian wished the remains will be buried in the family plot in the Bowsman Cemetery. A personal and private family gathering will occur at a later date. In Vivians memory donations may be made to the Salvation Army. Id like the memory of me to be a happy one. Id like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done. Id like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways. Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. Id like the tears of those I leave to dry before the sun, Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
